13 - 15 September 2019
The aim of the LDG Ringing Course is to provide ringers with concentrated practice, focussed on their level of skill.
This year’s course will be at the Copt Oak Memorial Hall again, this is just off junction 22 of the M1 and offers the chance to caravan or camp behind the hall. Please note that facilities are limited to toilet blocks. Practical sessions will take place in towers around this area and it is envisaged that there will be four practical sessions plus the possibility of ringing for Services on the Sunday.
Course instructors will organise a pub lunch on Saturday with a Guild Social being arranged for the evening which will include a buffet at £7 per person. We intend to block book a Sunday lunch at a local pub for those who would like to join us.
We are planning to offer groups concentrating on:-
- First steps in plain hunt
- Progressing from plain hunt
- Surprise minor
There is a minimum expectation that you can handle a bell entirely by yourself, and that you have rung rounds competently, safely and entirely unaided on different bells. All students should be able to ring a bell up and down although not necessarily in peal.
We hope that you will take advantage of the Saturday night buffet and Sunday lunch to continue the social aspects of this course.
Applications (initially restricted to those in the Guild area) will be treated on a first come first served basis. After 1st July, applications will be accepted from those outside the Guild area. The closing date for applications is the 31st July to allow time to arrange the helpers and churches.
