Foundry Foxes

Leicestershire Foundry Foxes is The Leicester Diocesan Guild’s group for ringers up to 19 years-old – open to all young ringers across Leicestershire. It aims to bring together young ringers to enjoy bellringing and other social activities with others of a similar age-group, from around Leicestershire in a fun & safe way. Ringing meetings/events are only open to young ringers & their Parents/Guardians, who are encouraged to stay (& do) to watch their young ringer(s) thrive in this invigorating environment.

While the Foxes are Leicestershire’s group for young ringers, each territorial Guild/Association similarly aims to have their own. Leicestershire is lucky to have easy access to surrounding regions, & the Foxes are often invited to join with other groups such as Coventry/Warwickshire, Derby, & Nottinghamshire young ringers, for meetings/outings etc. Similarly at Foxes meets we welcome young ringers & their Parents/Guardians from those Groups.

Social activities include ringing tower outings (arranged by Foxes & other groups), visits to other interesting places (including Loughborough’s War Memorial Campanile/Museum & the Bellfoundry itself), Christmas parties etc.

There is a global weekly magazine called The Ringing World – read by bellringers all around the world. They sponsor a UK nation-wide young ringers day – which is a great way for our young ringers to meet other young ringers from all around the UK, and to take part in ringing with them throughout the day (usually ending the day with ringing at the host city’s Cathedral/Minster). We aim to take a group to these Ringing World National Youth Competition [RWNYC] Days.

In 2023 this will take place in York on Sat 8th July – culminating in ringing at the Minster itself! In previous years the day has been in/around Exeter, Worcester, Liverpool, London, Birmingham.
